In my work I am interested in highlighting mundane inanimate objects such as a chair. The reason I choose such things, as a chair, is to give it a new purpose then its actual one, to see it in a new light, make it have an artistic presence and curiousness. The formal elements of design: line, shape, form, tone, texture, pattern and color assist me on how those images are organized on the canvas compositionally, while metaphorically becoming figurative elements as opposed to inanimate.
The work begins with acrylic medium as the under painting. It serves as a base to define color values and dries quickly for an immediate source of decision-making for the next level of color. It is my intent for the work to portray a whimsical and somewhat romantic position to express my metaphor for a colorful life.
